Enjoying January Snowmen

     What winter time decorations are you still enjoying on your outdoor home's décor?
I enjoyed my Christmas decorations as long as I could with my Santa's, candy canes etc.
  And once they were all put away I still like something cheery to enjoy outside on my porch until the end of January.
   I decided to leave out all my snowmen things since we are having such cold weather & snow here in eastern Tenn.
   Besides the 20 years we spent gone from Tennessee, but constantly visiting, I remember as a child growing up in Tennessee (in the 1960's ~yeah "I'm of old school age")  and that each winter we always had a nice 3 or 4 good snows to enjoy.  And I always thought my whole life until about 15 years ago, that our part of eastern Tennessee was a safe state. By that I mean, I felt it was centrally  located away from hurricanes, floods, constant snow, earth quakes & tornado's like most all other USA states.
   But that's not the case anymore. A few years ago we had the worst Tornado in history that took lives & wiped away houses completely. And even now, we have all the things I just mentioned  except for hurricanes, on much lower scales, but still have experienced earth quakes, floods, and the snows though are not really deep ones as we got when I was little, we still have them more often. And I enjoy the snows. May be because it brings back memories of my childhood & how much fun we had playing outside in it.
  I remember we as neighborhood kids of about 10+ in count would go to huge hill on a cow pasture and drag our sleighs there to ride.  We even found an old car hood once that we all drug up the hill & slide down on at one time & it was so much fun. Then you head inside while on winter break from school & warm up with Chicken noodle soup & thaw out just like the old TV commercials they use to show on TV.
    ~~ Take a retro memory tour back in time if you remember this Commercial for Chicken noodle soup. Because that's what my mom use to keep stocked in the kitchen cabinets & we warmed up & thawed out with it & saltine crackers after coming in from playing in the snow.


       Watching that always makes me think of my winter school breaks as a kid. So does Snowman.
  And so I enjoy snowmen a bit longer until Valentines Day comes around.
                      The vintage wooden full pane glass window that I hand painted with a Snowman theme & I painted the bottom window edge to serve as a chalkboard & can use any name or phrase on it.

 

I took some large gift bags that once served well there intentional use that were now torn & cut them in sections to use as MORE Snowmen backdrops in decoration.

 

 

I took an old oil lamp & had hubby to rewire it into a working electric bulb one to use. I hand painted the globe on its front with a snowman wintry theme & hung t between our window shutters. And just laid some white Christmas mini lights on top of the A/C box that's in that back porch window.

Added another motion sensor snowman on the edge that I got long ago from Collections etc.com that I love using. When turned on, he sings frosty the snowman.

I have removed that tiny ceramic fireplace since Christmas has past but it looked so cute sitting on there too.

                                                  I still have that tiny green fiber optic tree on the outdoor picnic table on my back porch because I have it decorated with snowflakes with matches my winter theme. And a snowman round vinyl table cloth that I got at the thrift store for 25 cent. I put a light source behind my hand painted snowman window, so that at night it illuminates a glow through it & looks pretty with the theme.

On the outside of the screened in porch I made a wreath covered in burlap, real pine cones & fresh greenery that I dusted with white paint to simulate snow-covered. I dash cinnamon oil on the burlap & when you pass by it or the wind blows it smells so good.

My mailman sometimes brings my packages to the back door to stay in out of the wet weather. So I created a cozy spot for him to sit them on in this old wooden ladder back chair I painted & I used chalk on its back slats to leave any message I like  in decorating theme when the fancy hits me.

I used it during the holidays to sit a pretty arrangement on that I made on a grave tombstone saddle.

The chair has 3 back slats on it & I wrote on "Country Mail Drop".

 

 

So, I think I'll enjoy my snowmen a bit longer.

And start thinking soon on Valentine ideas for outdoor decoration to replace it, once it warms up a bit.

#DIY Dress up your #Flameless #Candles Outside Skin By Covering in Printed Transparencies

 

  I think one product that both men & women both like, are candles for enjoyment.  The men may not admit that they like them because of an macho ego thing, but they do. They know that we women like the visual beauty they displace, the scents they provide & if we are happy, then they are happy.
   Most times yes, we woman buy them ourselves. But I think more & more men are buying candles too, knowing we love them and they make great gift choices to there wives, girl friends, sisters, aunts, mothers, daughters, etc.
    And I think whoever invented the idea of flameless candles, was a genius.
        They are pretty & even come scented & with timers on them & work with batteries that can last for hours of use. I myself use rechargeable batteries in almost everything in my home.

I see they no longer sell this particular set (not sure if they offer others & I will browse myself later to find out) because they really did & still do work wonderfully after all this time past.
           I have never bought any, additional flameless candles. But I certainly plan on doing so from this or other companies because I've noticed while browsing the internet or catalogs that they now come with MANY types of structures such as plain & slick outside wall surface or to simulate a chunky type candle. They can have even tops or ones that visually appear as though they have melted down from burning hours.
       They come scented & some have a timer switch or you can just use the on & off switch.
     This set, has both choices.  This set has a vanilla scent & as you use them, it warms the scent up even more to enjoy & the timer will shut up & come on hrs later the next day at the same time.
        I enjoyed these for the longest time, just as they were...plain.
    But with my love of shabby chic décor & roses, I thought I'd try to "dress them up" and enjoy them in a new way.

 I had some sheets of clear transparencies that I had never finished using in printed ideas for #DIY crafting, so I used them for the idea you see as follows.
         I just chose some clip art that I had on my print master CD art program (and some that I found free on the internet by key word searching what I wanted in phrases or picture subject then copy & paste it into a saved j.peg photo to print).
           Then printed the design first on regular paper so I knew if it wrapped around the candle area but did not over loop by being to long. (Note* save that test print and use it on other decoupage ideas or us as notes or gift tag ideas in other #diy craft ideas)

 


          I then printed it on the clear transparency sheet in the darkest black ink, so it appears better through the light of the candle glow. Note* my transparency sheets are ones from Avery.com that I got years ago & had left over. They are usually used for overhead projector use to print & show whatever you wish to show visual in a BIG scale. But I used them for many other uses. And this is one on my dress it up outside candle ideas, to enjoy luminary beauty.
         And I cut out each one & just wrapped them around the TOP part of the flameless candle where the glow is the brightest when it is turned on.
                                       

         With the clear transparencies you still get a pretty visual  in the day time as well when its not turned on & just using a small section to cover lets you still enjoy the candles scent.
        I love this idea & think there are endless ideas to print & enjoy like silhouette clip art of your loved ones, animals, poetry, or any design clip art. I will have to experiment with some of my old photos & see how they can look if printed on the clear sheets to use. I simply taped the clear strips onto the candle so I can remove them & change out.
          

    I can think of all sorts of ways to dress up the outside walls of them & (will have to share more ideas in later post lol) :)   And I'm busy trying to get up more #DIY enjoyed craft ideas to share with you that I am posting, so watch for them as I share. #DIY Fake Wooden Wall Door Utilized as #Jewelry Holder

              I seriously have so many #DIY projects that I got finished within the last 2months but just never got them posted to share. So I'm determined to share a few today.
             This one I'm sharing today comes from my love of shabby chic theme room décor.
    My master bathroom has lots of wall areas but no window in it at all. Someday I plan on adding one of the octagon widows that just push out for ventilation when I decide to open it for fresh air but mostly so I have a nature sunlight source to enjoy in that room.
  But until that happens, I can't stand feeling closed in within that room & try to create ways to feel as though it has windows or visual things on the walls that open up the space & make it brighter & more cheery.
   I have found a few ways to do just that & if they can be of shabby chic décor then I am even more pleased.
     We just finished installing our new walk in shower (that had been leaking & we have now added a new shower unit behind this wall you see pictured). Hubby had to access the back of that wall to fix & repair the water control handle knobs. Which left a small section on the wall, now cut out & missing that he will have to recap with sheet rock.
     I always kept a bigger picture on that back wall anyways. But this time I thought I would create something there that was both pretty & useful.
    So, I added a wooden door :)   This was one of 4 doors that went on a huge Armoire that now serves as my food pantry (which will be another #DIY project I will share with you this summer).
Anyways, I took one of the doors, and did a white wash type #DIY paint on it. By using a dampened old cloth dipped in the color paint I wanted to use, rubbed it all over the surface then quickly wipe back off the area with a dry clean old cloth. Which allows me to leave certain areas of the door to be lighter or darker in color, depending on how much I remove in paint.
  After I decided the look I was pleased with, I let it dry. Then I added my shabby chic theme to it by adding a stencil painted design & at the bottom I found the cutest saying at the Dollar Tree which are just peel & stick method.  My hummingbird you see upon it came from wallies.com (I won those from them from being an email subscriber and a giveaway where they drew winners via subscribers) it's a simple wall paper design that you soak in warm water for a few seconds them apply to ANY surface, let dry & enjoy. You can peel & reactivate again when you want to put them in another location. But I buy from them a lot & will share other wall designs with you as you read & see my photos on further down.
   To make the door functional I added tiny screw in hooks & pretty rose ceramic door pulls to it & it now can hang & display my jewelry.
  Of course hubby put the door on the wall with screws by just hanging the bracket hinges that it originally came with on the armoire.
   I really like it the fact that it adds to my shabby chic pink, green, beige colored bathroom.
     As you know, I love to free hand paint. But when I can take short cuts on easy #DIY projects, I do so to save time. So the stencil painted scene & the peel & stick lettering made it easy.
     A few of my other shabby chic pieces in the photo you see, just help add to the theme.
   A very old antique glass decanter that my mom gave me years ago in which I hand painted a cabbage rose on its front & added dangling string beads to it.
     That big ole oval galvanized tin pail, I bought it new at hardware store, did the same exact white washed painted method to it on the outside by using brown craft paint & removing it in certain areas to resemble old rust on the pail, then I added rub on  rose's.

      Now, back to those hummingbird wallies. Let me take you on tour AROUND the rest of the bathroom to see what I mean in designs both large & small that they sell.  Note* I sure hope to get a sponsored product review & giveaway offered from them someday to share with you and for you my readers to enjoy. I have tried but I guess we will see, as one can be hopeful. For now I have invested lots of money in buying so many of their unique designs. The same people that make McCall's patterns ~~ they are the makers of the products found at Wallis.com.
      Here I  dressed up my huge side wall over our whirlpool tub, with the big wall murals pre soak & paste able wallies they sell. I wait until I see them on discount & then buy many for myself & as gifts for family & friends for occasions.  This one came with the girls in the apple bloom tree & lots of extra petal flowers that I put inside a glass picture frame that I did the same white wash paint method on, but using pink paints. I just did that right onto the cardboard backing in the picture frame , let it dry & then added the wallies to it.

 
You really can use those products anywhere, even within a frame  to enjoy viewing.


   The area you see in the wall corners, is stenciled on. And, some of the rose wallies at the lower bottom edge, with again..a hummingbird added in the mix.
        Then, I added yet another huge 3 piece wallie, on the back wall in my master bathroom.
  Again, it makes me feel like I have a window choice there. And I have gotten so many compliments on this certain Wallie Wall paste-able. I layered on some of the tiny hummingbirds to it as well.

 

 

 

 

                 So, I hope you enjoyed seeing how can easily you can mix & match different methods of  wall designing to make a space with no real windows, feel more open & bright by  free hand painting, using stencils with craft paints, or adding paste-ables such as these shown. Or, adding a wooden door as I did & using it to house other things like scarves, jewelry etc.

@Hershey’s Spreads Chocolate with Almond Product Review via @Crowtap #Crowdtap

       Would you like to test out the newest products from great companies you know & already buy from everyday? Test them for free? As they are released  brand new to merchant store shelves?
Then share  your opinion of what you thought of the product & how well or not so well that you liked it or how it did?
       Well there is a place that let's you do just that. And its called  Crowdtap

      I'm new to +Crowdtap  but so far  really liking being a free involved member. And I got my 1st product to test & try out, which came yesterday. And so today, I have tried the product out & want to tell you all about it. The newest product that we as trio myself, crowdtap & the company they are promoting hersheys.com  want to tell you about the newest product from #Hershey's  called

          Which comes in 3 different flavors

           And that's the flavor that Crowdtap sent me to review for free.
                                         

 I'm glad I got sent that particular flavor from the 3 choices. I  love chocolate flavor & "hey" we're talking Hershey's here, so yes, it's good! I've never been one who likes hazelnut flavor.
But there are those people out there that do love it, so now you have something new to try from Hershey's on your store shelves.
   I do however, love Almonds :) And I was so curious when the new product met my taste buds, if it would be noticed in the flavor or would it just be more so, chocolate.

      There was an, even balance in the 2 flavors & I could taste both. The spread is creamy & also on a even balance of it's consistency. Not to thick & not to thin.  Upon first taste by the tip end of a butter knife & trying it I thought.."yum" this is different & I like it. I expected it to taste liking cake icing.
   You know, really sweet & thick having to stir it up to use it. But I was wrong & surprised at how easy it was to put on the butter knife & spread.  And the taste is just sweet enough so the almond flavor comes through & delivers.
                                          
             So, I wondered what I could spread it on to enjoy. And as the web site for Hershey's spreads
  will suggest to you many food ideas that you can spread this new product @Hershey’s Spreads on like fresh fruits of strawberry's, toast, waffles, pretzels, chips, crackers & so much more. So be sure to visit them for more ideas & lots of recipe suggestions too for its use & enjoyment here at Hershey's spreads
              I gave it a try on two different food items, that turned out really good with the Hershey's spreads in the mix.
              I thought hey, line it on the inside of an ice cream cone & then when I add ice cream to them I will have the chocolate with almond flavor within. And it will also help my ice cream stay frozen longer inside and not wet my cone and seep through as soon as it would with just ice cream inside.
              I froze some & put them inside a zip lock bag so they are at easy reach next time my grandson or anyone wants to add ice cream to one.
              

Then, I got out a small box of Jiffy pie crust mix (which is so easy to use by just adding 3 tablespoons of cold water to mix until firm & bonded) and I rolled out tiny balls of the crust mix, mashed them down with thumb print & baked them on a buttered cookie sheet.

                                         

Once cooled, I then spread on a dab of the Hershey's spreads flavor of Chocolate with almond.

They were really good. I can see serving these at any party & you can sprinkle candy pieces onto them to add even more party color. Or slice strawberries & add to the top of each one.

They come in a 13 ounce plastic jar with a screw on lid. (I love that fact because I can reuse & recycle the empty container) And I think it would be cute to use to fill with candies from Hershey's choices & gift out. Note* My sample product did not state if the item should be refrigerated after opening, but I would assume that it would need to be. I have inquired this question to the Hershey's company & will let you know what they say once they reply. I refrigerated  my jar & I think there answer will be yes as well.
 Where can you find this product to purchase?
                  Depending on what grocery store merchant your state has & you shop at, I'm sure it can be found at many stores.
        Here in TN our Wal-Mart's carry it for $3.38 and available online as well. I'm sure all the stores will soon stock this great new product from Hershey's. If your merchant store does not yet carry it, suggest to them to do so.
